Happy Birthday DaleLene

Today is DaleLene's Birthday! It's been just over a year ago that she passed away. Even though she's not here with us anymore I still think of her daily and love her more than ever.
(Cindy, Kelsey, Mom, Me, Jessica, Cindy at lunch for DaleLene's Birthday)

"I have not lost her... I know right where she is" - Randy

WE LOVE YOU!

Staying at Sundance

Work paid for Jon and I to stay over night and ski up at Sundance. The rooms are cute little cottages and the skiing was actually really good. They were having demos on Ski's and Snowboards so Jon tried skis out and Dad tried snowboarding. They both rocked it!

There was a Bride and Groom Skiing!

Its fun that my dad works for the company too so him and my mom stayed at Sundance with us. Sundance has fabulous Sunday Brunch that Jon always dreams about!

Holiday Party at Sundance

I was in charge of our Company Holiday Party again this year and decided to host it at Sundance! It was pretty stressful planning at party for 200 people all by myself with the President of the Company breathing down my neck wanting it to be absolute perfect, and I believe it was. I haven't heard one bad thing about it. My Santa and Mrs. Claus was wonderful, and our string quartet was the frosting on the cake!

It's finally here!

This semester is finally over!! And with a teacher going into labor with 3 weeks left from class I pulled off a B+ in Physiology and an A in my Chemistry lab; which means I am done with my prereqs for Nursing and am able to apply for Nursing Programs!

Once I get into a school I only have 4 semesters before I am a RN, unless I pay extra and go to a private school I should be done in 2-3 semesters. Now the fun part; trying to figure out how we can afford school/me not working until I am able to graduate. Life is always full of surprises

It's getting cold outside!

I would first like to say... I am not one to dress my dog up. However there are some circumstances that this is acceptable. One being Halloween.Milo was a fantastic Captain Hook for Halloween this year. I'm sad that I didn't get a picture of all of us together; Jon was Peter Pan, I was Tinkerbell and Milo of course was Captain Hook. At first Milo didn't love the costume, but when he found out that when he wore it he got ALOT of attention and got to go to fun places (we took him to our wards trunk or treat where he sat next to the car like a pro and had many kids pet him; pretty sure he was in doggy heaven).
I know some of you are saying wow you really treat this dog like your child, but anyone that has met my dog can agree that this dog has a personality of his own. He loves our renters Ashley and Erika that live downstairs. He greets all of their friends with a big smile and wagging of the tail; however if you happen to be a male he is not happy. He barks and barks and will stare at them through the little space between the door and the floor and lets them know he is not happy with you being there. Now if your a guy friend of mine or Jon's you are more than welcome in our house. Pretty sure he thinks that Ashley and Erika are his girlfriends.
Anyways Milo has very little fur. He is 100% muscle, no fat, and no fur. So now that the weather has changed he literally has to sleep under the blankets. If you're cuddling in a blanket on the couch he will come up and paw at the top of the blanket and start stuffing his head under the blanket until he is completely submerged under the blanket. We have some throw blankets in our bedroom that he will wiggle his little nose underneath, get the blanket on his back and walk around the house with a blanket on his back. So it was inevitable......

Of course I would get him one with a soccer ball on it =) He actually LOVES this sweatshirt. If he's not wearing it he'll go and get it and cuddle with it. The only problem is we have to remember to roll it up when he goes to the bathroom.... good thing that dog loves his showers and we can just turn the shower on and throw him in there by himself at midnight when we forget to roll it up =)

4 Weeks left of class...

and its official. My Teacher has gone into labor. She's early so is on bedrest andIV's... this could either be REALLY good or REALLY bad. She said she has a substitute to come in and teach or her husband will come in. Well the only other time she had mentioned her husband was when she said to the class "Now you all understand that the body receives blood at the same time and not just one side at a time right?" we all stared at her like is this a serious question? "Well my husband didn't understand that so just making sure you all did."

Wish me luck!

We then walked around Temple square and stopped in front of the "Mermaid Fountain" (the one on the south side of the Temple that looks like a clam shell) and he hugged me and I heard his heart going thump thump thump and just started laughing. Dedicated to being the "cool" aunt

My nephew Riley recently went to a Superhero Birthday Party and came back with a home made table cloth cape and loved it. It got me thinking about the cape that my mom made me when I was about his age and loved it.

So it was decided that I would make each of my nephews a cape of their own! My mom took me shopping and we started our little project. I cut she sewed; it worked out great. They are Batman/Superman reversible capes. Here is the finished project....

Funny how we each have the batman side on... my brother in law Steve can show off the Superman side of it....

I think its safe to say that my nephews love their Aunt Bre Bre

THANKS MOM!!!!!

It rains 9 months of the year in Seattle

Jon and I along with our good friends Jessica and DJ took an adventure to Seattle this past weekend for my birthday. I have been wanting to take Jon there for awhile to show him around my "hometown" and when he said he wanted to go somewhere for my birthday this year; Seattle just sounded like the best idea!

We first did the "Ride the Duck" around the City. It was pretty fun and the drivers were ridiculous, worth $25? Not 100% sure but it was a great way to see Lake Union and the Sleepless in Seattle house. We also went on the Underground Seattle Tour. I lived there for 15 years and never did it; so it was definitely worth the $15. Jon really enjoyed it at well =)

We took a cruise on Lake Washington out of Kirkland to see the homes on Lake Washington. It was alot of fun; however I still have not convinced Jon that we want to move to Seattle. In his words "If I had 30 million dollars to buy a house; it wouldn't be on Lake Washington." Apparently I still need to do more convincing on my part.

The Locks were really fun and we were able to see a couple boats come through. Nothing like the summer time where they cram 50 boats in, but enough to show the concept of it. And hey it was free! Nothing beats free!
Jessica Klein and Andrew Elliott 2 of my childhood best friends came to the Mariners game with us. It was soo much fun seeing them. However getting Jon and Andrew together always is a sign of trouble. When Andrew came to visit us in SLC this past spring we went out to sushi and Andrew dared Jon to eat the whole roll of wasabi--- of course Jon did. Then we went out for hot wings and Andrew dared Jon to get the hottest hot wings that the Wing Coop could make. And he did. (of course I'm the one that has to deal with the complaining and screaming of the stomach later) So what else would Andrew do at the Mariners game besides dare Jon to eat all of the garlic on the garlic fries at once. It was unpleasant.
Even though Jon doesn't want to live on Lake Washington, he said the town of Snoqualmie would be awesome to live in. Go figure? Here is us at Snoqualmie Falls. They are doing major construction at it and had the hike down to the falls closed off. Bummer.

Dinner at the Space Needle was fabulous! You can always rely on Seattle for rain and it was no exception while we were there (I loved it; Jon felt differently) but the rain held off for the hour we were eating. I always new Seattle cared about me =)
Our awesome dessert at the Needle. It has been served ever since it opened.
No one can go to Seattle and not visit Pikes Place. It was just a short distance from our hotel so we walked there a couple times.... in the rain.

Jessica and I were in the love with all the flowers. I remembered there being lots of flowers, but it never ceases to amaze me really how many flowers they have there, and for so cheap too! Those huge beautiful bouquets of flowers were only....... $5!!!!
We rode the monorail over to the Seattle Center and had some lunch and fun walking around. We were all looking at the beautiful fountain when all the sudden Jon was gone. I love that silly boy! He sure had a crowd cheering him on as he ran through the fountain. The Fremont Troll was on my lists of "to dos" however it was funny how we stumbled upon it completely on accident while we tried to find Roxy Diner for breakfast.
Overall it was an awesome vacation and I loved every rainy minute of it.

My Life is a Movie

Jon and I went to Lagoon last Saturday. The fun really started when Jon and I left the park to go find food. We had to travel to centerville to even find a hint of food. We we're cruising around state trying to find what to eat. (note: 2 people who "don't care" make it quite difficult to decide on a place to eat) We passed by a Little Ceasers Pizza and a Walmart. Jon comes to the conclusion that I drop him off at Walmart for him to grab drinks while I run and get a hot 'n ready pepperoni pizza. After picking up the pizza I head back to Walmart to pick Jon up. He wasn't outside so I called him and he said oh you're already there? well what do you want to drink. (How has he not got drinks yet?) I said whatver just hurry. Next think I know here's Jon coming out of Walmart with a liter of Rasperry Lemonade, an 8 oz of mtn dew, and... donuts.

Oh don't worry, the liter of lemonade was just for me.

We then headed back to the park and we were determined to get "awesome" parking. We drove around for awhile not finding anything and then Jon wanted to go on this "other" side. The "park in the grass or dirt areas with pot holes the size of texas." Of course we ran into a worker who then forced us into parking over there. Darn you Jon I didn't want to park out here! So us being the dare devils we are pushed the gas when the guy wasn't looked and tried to go back to the normal parking. Well that didn't work; we got forced out of the park by a different parking person and had to start all over again.

We ended up taking the first spot we saw.

Jon and I got on the musical twirly ride. (the one were you keep going in circles and go faster and faster getting pushed more and more into each other.) We sat down and started getting buckled in when this mom walked up to us and said that they wouldn't let all 3 of her kids ride with her and would we be willing to have her son sit with us. "um.. Sure" Wasn't expecting that at all. He was probably about 4 and was way more thrilled about the ride than Jon and I so we buckled him and waited for the ride to start. After thinking for a second I said.. "Isn't this the ride on the Sandlot where all the boys throw up?"

we both looked at each other pretty nervous. And here we go.... The boy started out loving it laughing and throwing his hands in the air; about halfway through his face dramatically changed and I got pretty nervous. Jon and I exchanged looks and just held on..

Luckily this story does not end bad but only with the sigh of relief that the ride didn't last any longer than it did.

It's not what you think

Jon went to the restroom this morning and there was a wad of toilet paper in the toilet already. Odd... but what do you do? So he just tried flushing it down but it would not go down. He goes for the plunger and tries to get this thing down when he noticed this "toilet paper" was hard. Turns out it was part of Milo raw hide bone that he decided to hide in the toilet! Who does that?!

When Milos friend Roxy was living with us he didn't get raw hides that often; so when she left he began to get them again and we noticed he'd hide them all over the place (probably in fear she'd come back and steal them). In my piano books, purses, behind pillows, even my hair! Then he looks at you like you didn't see anything and walks away.

But the toilet Milo?! When Jon came out Milo was sitting outside the bathroom whining and desperately searching all over for his raw hide.

I guess I'm a sucker cause I went and bought him more bones at lunch today.

Aloha!

We just got back from our vacation in paradise and it couldn't have been better! Jon was like a little kid in a candy shop. We could not get that boy to stop for the whole 11 days on that trip.

Day 1:
we went to Pearl Harbor where we attended the Arizona Memorial and toured the USS Missouri battle ship which was really neat. I'm not high maintenance but I have alot of respect for those guys that sleep in those tiny spaces!

day 2: We went to the PCC and LDS Hawaii Temple. It was fun at the PCC that the same coconut climbing man that we fell in love with 10 years ago when we were there still worked there doing the same show so we got to see him again. It is so neat that PCC to just go around and see all the different cultures all of these islands have. It got Chris (my brother) thinking that if we were to say what our culture's games and songs and traditions were... what would we say?? We came up with duck duck goose, ring around the rosies, and nursery rhymes. Anyways, in tahti i believe my dad was selected to go on stage... if anyone wants to see that video I have it!

Day 3: Last day in Oahu we decided we wanted to surf on Waikiki Beach..... this is my attempt. (I'm laying down with the blue shirt, Jon is in the white shirt) its alot harder than I thought!!
Day 4: We arrive in Kauai! We visited the Wiamea Canyon (the grand canyon of Hawaii)

Day 5: Boat dive off south shore. This has been my favorite dive so far. Maybe becuase it was my first dive with Jon. Either way we had a blast!

Day 6: We toured the Napali Coast on a boat tour (inaccessible by car) We started the trip with the skipper turning on some music...

"Just sit right back and you'll hear a tale,
A tale of a fateful trip
That started from this tropic port
Aboard this tiny ship.

The mate was a mighty sailing man,
The skipper brave and sure.
Five passengers set s
ail that day
For a three hour tour, a thr
ee hour tour. "
The funny thing was that Gilligans island was filmed on Kauai; and we too were on a 3 hour boat tour! =) Anyways it was alot of fun as we saw many sites that were used for movies including King Kong, 6 days 7 Nights, Jurassic Park etc.

Day 7:
We did a lot of waterfall site seeing
on this day. We hiked down to an "80 ft" which is really 173 ft (not sure how they can be that far off!) and swam around at the bottom which was definitely a highlight. We also went to "Queens Bath"

Day 8: Today was another Scuba Day. This time it was a Shore Dive on the North Shore. I have decided I'm a boat dive kind of girl. Non of this having to walk out with all of your gear on:

Tank - 80 cubic foot aluminum, 45 lbs filled.
Regulator - 2 lbs
BC - 5 lbs
Wetsuit - 2 lbs
Weights - 14 lbs

Thats about 60 lbs to walk out on a sandy beach into the ocean and have to swim like a mile on the surface (which scuba fins are no help at all on the surface) to get to your dive spot. My dad and I have always been the 2 with the most air ending the dives; and on this shore dive I was reading an E when everyone else had at least 700!! YIKES! I'll stick to boat dives thank you! =)

Day 9: This was our last full day on Kauai and we decided to take a Kayaking trip up the waialua river to the fern grotto and "secret falls." This was such a blast! I have learned though I'm not much of a kayaker, I can't get the left and right going so I just paddled like a canoe. Hey it works!

Jon and I are the little people in the Secret Falls
