Rock Climbing

Last weekend we went rock climbing at momentum with my brother Chris and his date, and my cousins Ashley and Dan. It was a blast!! We learned how to belay each other which I had never done before. I was surprised with how out of shape I was. Being a soccer player my arms never really get a workout... but boy did this work out your arms! It was funny that I think belaying was actually more tiring then climbing itself!

Jon climbed the "Crack" and made it all the way to the top! we were soo proud of him! I have no idea how someone could climb that but he did! Dan had fun swinging while Jon was climbing. haha gotta love that boy!

Gotta love this game

We had an outdoor soccer game last night. The score was 0-0 and the other team kicked the ball over the fence into the parking lot. We picked up a different soccer ball, threw it in, dribbled and scored. Next thing we know the other team is crying "we weren't ready!" Seriously? What were you doing jumping in the mud puddles or looking at the birds?? Then the Ref asked how we would feel about not counting the goal. Um having that goal would make us in the lead, but since we are better human beings we decided to let them have it. We are now winning 4-1 with 5 minutes left in the game and after the other team complaining about everything they start doing hand balls and fouling us like crazy. Oh don't worry the Ref's let them do it "because we are winning." Wow. I know this is county soccer but seriously? I'm glad we can win games with our integrity and skills.

Saturday we had an indoor game in woods cross. We pull up to the building and are greeted by this awful smell. I get out of the car and Jon said "Bre don't step in the water"... oh? "It isn't water." Lovely. Their sewer is overflowing and is on the field. Yes... we did play on sewer infested soccer field that day. Never have I felt so disgusting in my life. But hey you just gotta love this game!

Day 9: Blog Challenge

Day 9: A Place You Love

Seattle

I cannot think of a place that I would have loved to be raised other than Seattle. It is an amazing city. I really believe it has shaped who I am and if I were raised in Utah I would not be the same person. Seattle has such an easy going spirit about it and non judgemental and I believe that is why I am the same way. It is easy being yourself in Seattle since everyone there is unique. I am sooo happy that Jon was able to see where I grew up last year and the placed that made me who I am today. I will always have a special place in my heart for Seattle!!

Day 8: Blog Challenge

day 8: a hobby of yours

Hobby #1: Soccer

Ever since I started playing soccer in 4th grade it has been a release for me. Sometimes you just really need to kick something and soccer is perfect for that! I just love the game! Jon and I play on an Indoor and Outdoor team with our friends and it's what I look forward to every week. Being able to hang out with friends, play a sport I love, exercise, and get a good competitive attitude twice a week is what I live for! Sometimes I wish I was back in Jr.High and High School where my life was soccer and that's all I did... I miss those days but I guess we all have to move on dont we?

Hobby #2 - Anything water sports

I love water sports! There's nothing like swimming on a hot day, or hiking down to a water fall in hawaii, or wakeboarding surrounded by beautiful red rocks!

Day 7: Blog Challenge

day 7: an animal you'd love to keep as a pet

I have always thought having a bear would be an awesome pet. When they are cubs they are absolutely adorable! And just like those tigers that live with monks, I'm sure if you have them since they were cubs they'd learn to grow up with you and be careful with you?? Either way it would be a dream come true to hold a bear cub!!

Check out this awesome link!

Day 6: Blog Challenge

Will Smith:

Ever since I can remember I've always LOVED Will Smith. I grew up on Fresh Prince and totally feel in love with him. I love that he's just a fun outgoing guy and all of his movies are all just fabulous!

Day 5: Blog Challenge

Day 5: Your Parents

My Dad:
I think I get alot of my goofiness from my dad. He is caring but then also just loads of fun. I know there's nothing that my dad wouldn't do for me. I'm a sucker for my dad; if I don't know the answer my dad surely does.

My Mom:
My Mom is my best friend. She's the first I call for everything and anything. I love going home to her house everyday for lunch and just hanging out. It definitely gets me through the day. Her cooking is also fabulous! Now that I have my own home and have to cook I appreciate her cooking much more. She does so much for our family and is always the one looking out for everyone.

Day 4: Blog Challenge

day 4: meaning behind your blog name

I think it's pretty self explanatory; Jon & Bre Thorpe. Thats me and my hubby. Maybe I should have thought of something more original so that I could write something?

I've started having a personal trainer at Golds Gym. Wow I used to think ladders in soccer practice was the worst. Is it horrible after 7 minutes I turn to him begging for us to be done? I thought I wasn't in bad shape, but wow. It is definitely insane but I'm learning a lot. And learning a lot that I don't have much self determination and I really need someone yelling at me so I don't give up... at least when it comes to fitness. Watch out everyone driving around me, I can hardly lift my arms to make a left hand turn.

Day 3: Blog Challenege

day 3: pet peeves

Lately I have been very annoyed with people that do not act their age. Making a commitment to do something means that you will do it. There is no "oh sorry I just don't feel like it anymore." That was high school. We are now adults and you should take yourself seriously as an adult. If you say something I except you are going to do it.

People that sneeze and do not cover up. I have been involved with the health field long enough to know how many of those tiny germs are now flying my way making me want to hold my breath and duck for cover. Honestly. And yes I did just put hand sanitizer on just thinking about it.

Pyramid scams. Isn't it nice running into an old friend randomly... until they spill oh hey you need some life insurance, or oh hey you need to come be a part of this job. Pretty sure that nice reunion we just had was just a ploy to get me within arms reach. Thanks for nothing. Now I feel completely used and question our friendship altogether. Want some advice? Oprah just told me that you don't need more than $70k for a family of 5 to be happy.

Day 2: Blog Challenge

Day 2: Your Favorite Movie

I have to admit... I'm Twilight Obsessed. I never went and saw the first movie in the theaters, and it wasn't until 6 months after the movie was released that I actually read the books. Jon was working in New York and I was pretty bored at home and my sister in law Katie suggested I read the books. Lets just say I finished all of the books by the time Jon got back from NY. It definitely made the time fly. So I think I have this special connection with Edward comforting me when Jon was gone. HA!

The movie isn't really at all like the books, but with how much I LOVED the book, the movie reminds me of how much I love the book. Bella's acting is pathetic but I still love it.

TEAM EDWARD!!!!

Day 1: Blog Challenge

day 1: recent picture of yourself and 5 interesting facts about you

Recent Picture of yourself:

5 Facts about me:

1: I hate cherries. The thought of it makes me think of NyQuil and that stuff is just disgusting!

2: I have had 8 surgeries and 4 broken since turning 12. That puts me at about 1 surgery/broken bone a year! Insurance for me is a must!

3: When I was in 3rd grade I overdosed on peanut butter and was allergic to peanuts for about 2 years. True story.

4: I do consider my dog my child. Until I have a real child of my own I will continue to let Milo sleep under my covers and give me kisses. Who can't love that little guy?

5: Every time that I have cried to get out of a ticket, I've gotten a ticket. Every time I have not cried, I have not gotten a ticket.... Anyone that says girls can get anything by crying is seriously mistaken.

Happy Birthday Jon!

Yesterday was Jon's Birthday!! On Sunday my family had a birthday party for Jon where he got his present from my parents and I; a Nail Gun!

A little spoiled but he deserved it! Then yesterday we all went out to lunch and my brother gave him Call Of Duty for the XBox... I might not be seeing him for awhile. =) Last night we went to the Grizzly game with some of Jon's friends. It was pretty fun and an awesome game! Grizzlies went into overtime and ended up loosing in a shoot out AND there was a pretty awesome fight that broke out, not bad not bad.

I am so thankful for Jon and everything that he does for me. He works so hard and is constantly there for me doing anything he can to put a smile on my face.
Happy Birthday!!!!

Corporate Games... and such

So this blog challenge isn't going so well... sad to say I have no recent pictures! We'll hold off on this challenge until I get some!

The beginning of this month work participated in "Winter Corporate Games." To our defense we are a much smaller company than most of the companies we were competing with. Other companies would hold try outs while we just begged people to participate. I participated in 4 events.

Ping Pong

Dad and I were on the same team... didn't go so well but it was fun!

Dodgeball

Soccer

We ended up playing 3 games (50 mins each) in a row with only 1 guy sub... pretty sure I lost 5 lbs that night

and Volleyball but I don't have any pictures back from that yet.

Church on Sunday was interesting too. Teaching the Sunbeams is the best birth control. For the first time I can officially say that I was spat on by a child. Yes a big, juicy, pool of spit landed perfectly on my wedding ring. Sweet. I constantly keep cleaning my ring just thinking about it.

Milo has graduated and now is good enough that he can be left out of his kennel while we are gone. He still stays in his kennel while we are at work but is left out when we go out at night. He gets VERY confused by this. He has learned that when we lock the door and put our shoes on its time to go and he runs into his kennel without being told. When we leave and his kennel is not locked he gets very confused. Last night Jon spent 20 mins trying to figure out what show to leave on for milo to watch when we were gone. Animal Plant was the pick.

8:00 pm - Wow! Watched TV with my people! My favorite thing!
11:00 pm - Sleeping on the bed! My favorite thing!

Excerpts from a Cat's Daily Diary...

Day 983 of my captivity...

My captors continue to taunt me with bizarre little dangling objects.

They dine lavishly on fresh meat, while the other inmates and I are fed hash or some sort of dry nuggets.

Although I make my contempt for the rations perfectly clear, I nevertheless must eat something in order to keep up my strength.

The only thing that keeps me going is my dream of escape. In an attempt to disgust them, I once again vomit on the carpet.

Today I decapitated a mouse and dropped its headless body at their feet. I had hoped this would strike fear into their hearts, since it clearly demonstrates what I am capable of. However, they merely made condescending comments about what a 'good little hunter' I am.

There was some sort of assembly of their accomplices tonight. I was placed in solitary confinement for the duration of the event. However, I could hear the noises and smell the food. I overheard that my confinement was due to the power of 'allergies.' I must learn what this means and how to use it to my advantage.

Today I was almost successful in an attempt to assassinate one of my tormentors by weaving around his feet as he was walking. I must try this again tomorrow -- but at the top of the stairs.

I am convinced that the other prisoners here are flunkies and snitches. The dog receives special privileges. He is regularly released - and seems to be more than willing to return. He is obviously retarded.

The bird has got to be an informant. I observe him communicating with the guards regularly. I am certain that he reports my every move. My captors have arranged protective custody for him in an elevated cell, so he is safe. For now...

I accept!

Yesterday we had the Thorpe family dinner. We were talking about Peter and Katie going on a cruise and they asked Jon and I if something were to happen to them if we would take care of their kids. Without even thinking I said of course. And they said we're serious, and I said I am too. When I got home I thought about it more. What a life changing experience it would be if Riley and Emma were now part of our little family. Everything would change but we adore those kids. And then thinking that Peter and Katie would trust us with their most precious possessions is even more special. Just thinking about it makes me realize really how great a families love is that we would change our lives to support each other. I accept!

=)
